Unfortunately, we have been defeated. Populists, using fear as a weapon, they “conquered” England and Wales.
Europe now needs to pause and think. It takes a lot of courageous changes in Brussels. It takes boldness in politics. The European Union undermined itself. The actual cost turned out to be the only value, the ultimate judge. We now need answers; we need to act against this nullification. Instead of defense, European citizens must choose counter-attack. They need to tackle inequality, bureaucracy, elitism, populism and corruption. The “Erasmus Generation” must come to the front. The 21st century people are now more closely related; they are closer to each other than ever. This cannot possibly change, not with one million votes, not even with two million votes. The country of Shakespeare, Dickens, Shelley, Kipling, the country whose language is a global hub of communication, the country that adopted and stood for global values, this country cannot change its path.
We hope that today’s mistake of the history will be fixed by history itself, the soonest possible.
