As a European country, Greece must contribute to the efforts to bring peace to the Ukraine and must strive to protect the Greeks living there

Stavros Theodorakis welcomes a delegation representing 150.000 Greeks living in Ukraine and listens to their concerns.

Mrs. Alexandra Protsenko-Pichadzhy, President of the Federation of Greek Associations of the Ukraine and Stepan Makhsma, the mayor of Sartana, a Greek village situated just 3kms from the war zone, speaking to Stavros Theodorakis, the leader of Potami, expressed their aspiration for peace and stability in the region of Donetsk, where Greek populations have been living for centuries. Apart from the need to protect the residents of the area, the representatives pleaded for aid from the Greek society, especially for children and the elderly. They also asked for the support of Potami in accelerating the process of granting them the status of Greeks living abroad.

Mr. Theodorakis, accompanied by Spyros Danellis, MP of Heraklion Prefecture, and Diplomatic Advisor George Skemperis, pledged to spare no effort to support the Greek population of Mariupol.. As a member of the European Union and a country with traditional ties of friendship with Russia, Greece must contribute to the efforts to bring peace to the region.
