We must protect refugees and families, and take some action, in order to isolate troublemakers. We now know that there are some rioters. They need to be transported to protected camps. In an interview with Real FM, Stavros Theodorakis comments on the latest developments in Moria refugee camp and the explosive conditions in the area. Mr Theodorakis stated that the situation is getting out of control, pointing out that the lack of a plan generates scenes of mayhem. “We must protect refugees and families, and take some action, in order to isolate troublemakers. We now know that there are some rioters. They need to be transported to protected camps. The government needs to execute a specific plan, which has already been elaborated. If it had done so, this chaos would have been avoided”.
Asked to comment on the public debt, Stavros Theodorakis said that Europe will give a solution on that, when it will be convinced that, in Greece, we comply with what has been agreed upon. He also stressed that the debt issue also depends the Eurozone national parliaments, as many of them are not ready because of their national elections. He then referred to the need for a national plan-proposal on how to deal with the debt. “All democratic political parties need to join their forces and figure out a specific plan on debt regulation. Any other plan wouldn’t be reliable enough. SYRIZA has lost its credibility and its own plan will not be accepted. All political leaders must agree and set up a plan on the debt, so that Europeans can actually understand that we are united for the sake of our country and our children. SYRIZA needs to take national initiative on the debt”.
Commenting on the decision of PASOK to quit deliberations on the formation of the “New Movement” of the Center, Mr Theodorakis said that he is not aware of the reasons that led Fofi Gennimata to this decision. “We have made a proposal on a joint press conference. The proposal is still on the table; in case they change their mind”.
