Beyond the electoral results, To Potami has also been able to set the agenda for a better Greece. Its political priorities are now shared by all the Progressives in Europe, and together we must stress the importance of structural reforms aimed at modernising the public sector, liberalising the economic sector, fighting against corruption, tax fraud and avoidance, and at making the Greek economy more competitive.
Dear Stavros,
The results of the last general elections have shown that To Potami has been able to reaffirm itself as a crucial player of the Greek political system. For a new party, it is never easy to confirm its role.
I would also like to welcome the approach adopted by To Potami to prepare its party Congress next December. It is essential to open a dialogue, not only within the party but also with the civil society. Political parties alone are unable to cope with the growing demands of voters who identify less and less with party politics. To Potami's vitality also mirrors the activism of its delegation in the European Parliament. The work of your MEPs is highly appreciated by all in our group, and it is an asset not only for our group but for Greece in Europe.
Dear friends, we are members of the same political family in Europe. In the last years, together, we have created a more open progressive family open not only to the historical socialist forces but also to new, dynamic reformist forces such as To Potami.
In your next battles you can count on the full support of the group of the Socialists and Democrats.
Gianni Pittella
President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats
