"There is no such thing as easy days ahead. This must be made clear to the Greek people. It does not matter right now who is most responsible for getting us where we are now. What matters is that we all acknowledge that there will be difficult times ahead, and that difficult decisions must be made. The responsibility for the negotiations lies in the hands of the Prime Minister", stated Stavros Theodorakis, coming out of the Presidential Mansion, following the meeting of the Council of Political Leaders under the President of the Republic.
The leader of Potami pointed out the need "to prove wrong all those that believe that the European Union can exist without the Greek people". He added that this is not the right time to attribute responsibilities, since “ joining forces, we must try to face the critical moments, so that we get a positive outcome within the next hours”. He also urged the ECB to acknowledge that an effort is made to restart the negotiations and to take into consideration the great need for liquidity in the banking system.
"It is the common feeling of all that we are in the middle of the last great effort to find a solution to the impasse facing the Greek people. And in this effort, there is no room for petty politics. There is no point in stressing what keeps us apart, which often is much. Instead, we tried and indeed managed in these past hours to say what binds us together", stated Stavros Theodorakis.
