"Mr Tsipras must decide with whom he wants to allign and who he wants to leave behind. He cannot have it both ways; Lafazanis and Europe do not match. Baltas and Europe do not match,"stated Stavros Theodorakis, in an interview with a local TV channel.
The leader of Potami reiterated that the government must not play with the drachma scenario. “If Greece returns to the former national currency, we will experience a catastrophe similar to the one that followed the defeat in Asia Minor".
He also pointed out that a dispute and break with the International Monetary Fund means that, in effect, there will be no money for salaries and pensions. In such a case, the Greeks will lose 4/5 of their purchasing power. Mr. Theodorakis stated that Potami will support any agreement that will keep the country in the European orbit.
Mr. Theodorakis clarified that Potami will participate in the next elections as an independent political party, saying that “Potami follows its own course, not the ones that other political parties have chosen. Potami will not end up being the lifeline of New Democracy or SYRIZA”.
Finally, Mr. Theodorakis expressed the fear that SYRIZA, or at least a part of Syriza, and definitely the Independent Greeks and Golden Dawn, would not hesitate to impoverish the Greek society, in the name of the heroic battle against the “foreigners”.
