Stop waging war against the Bank of Greece!

The government just discovered its new enemy, an internal one, needless to say. This time "the bad guy" is the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras, who is being blamed by SYRIZA for supposedly undermining the government. Obviously, the members of SYRIZA and Independent Greeks (ANEL) government failed to see Mr Stournaras’ so far successful efforts to keep the financing of the Greek banking system alive, in cooperation with the ECB. If their real aim is to replace the Governor of the Bank of Greece, they should be clear about it instead of waging a backstage war, ravaging the institution and, eventually, the Greek economy itself.

In any case, the allergy of SYRIZA and ANEL government to independent authorities and its inclination towards a party controlled state was obvious from the very start, through the reforms promoted in Education and the Health System. It now seems that they want control of the Bank of Greece too, imposing their favoured ones, thus violating, amongst other things, the European regulations. Besides, both SYRIZA and ANEL officials ballyhoo in TV shows where they are hosted, that there has not been just a government change, but a regime change as well. And regimes only have room for their supporters. Just like it was the case in the Greece of the past, and the totalitarian regimes, which some people are still envisioning.
