Stavros Theodorakis meets Paul Wright, CEO of Eldorado Gold

The Canadian CEO pointed out the damage that the country is suffering, not only because of the financial losses that the suspension of activities will bring about, but mostly because of the international media that have been displaying the image of a country “hostile” towards foreign investments.

Mr Wright expressed his disappointment over the attitude of the Greek government, which refuses to have a substantial talk with the company and grant the necessary permits and licenses, despite the decisions of the Council of State, which do credit to the company. The Canadian CEO pointed out the damage that the country is suffering, not only because of the financial losses that the suspension of activities will bring about, but mostly because of the international media that have been displaying the image of a country “hostile” towards foreign investments. Finally, he stressed that he has repeatedly requested to meet the Prime Minister, in order to discuss this major investment issue, yet he has received no response whatsoever.

Stavros Theodorakis and To Potami MPs made it clear that to Potami has been a proponent of the investments that can create job positions in the country, while respecting legality, the environment and local societies. The Movement’s MPs pointed out that the political system in Greece has not dared, over the years, to promote investments giving breath and hope to the people.

Following the meeting, the leader of To Potami stated:

The country needs investments that will respect legality, investments that will respect the environment and, above all, investments that will respect Greeks’ demand for the creation of job positions. The government obviously cannot deliver. Alexis Tsipras must stop hiding and make a decision. He can either choose work, or borrowing additional funds. There is no other way”.
